LASER CUTTER
There are many laser engraving/manufacturing services, but few that are accessible, collaborative and affordable. We aim to bring laser technology to anyone that wants it, and to work on all the projects we can.
We have a zippy little Epilog Helix that can cut and engrave on a variety of materials up to 24” x 18” and on-site laser technicians to help bring your project to reality – we’ll review your files, configure the machine, and make it happen…no experience required!

HOW IT WORKS
The laser is directed along the vectors or rasterized images in a file to melt, burn or vaporize the material. Cutting through the material requires vector lines in a file (AI and PDF preferred) and engraving can be achieved with vector or bitmap files. When cutting vectors, the laser moves efficiently along the line. When engraving rasterized images, the laser acts much as a printer, engraving the image as a series of points from bottom to top.

CHECKLIST
- Lines to cut are 255 Red on the RGB scale, and at full opacity
- Lines to etch are 255 Red on the RGB scale, and at a scaled opacity corresponding to intensity
- All fonts are outlined or expanded into vectors
- Areas to engrave are black, at a scaled opacity corresponding to intensity
- File is scaled to fit your material
- File is on the upper left corner on a document sized 24” wide by 18” high.
MATERIALS
