
So what’s been happening outside of the wood shop at ADX?? James Florschutz received a RACC grant award to create a sculptural wall installation, details below:
ADX, as a membership-based community of makers, designers and thinkers, is proud to present sculpture artist James Florschutz and his site-specific, sculptural wall installation. Using scrap generated from ADX’s wood shop, the sculptural wall installation expresses the ADX creative process.
Opening Reception: Friday, May 4th 6-9pm at ADX 417 SE 11th Portland, OR 97214
Preview James at work every Wednesday in April (4th, 11th, 18th and 25th), 6-8pm
James Florschutz’s goal is to create a compelling and well-crafted sculptural wall installation that touches on reducing industrial waste in Portland. Florschutz’s target audiences are Green organizations and youth programs around the city who practice environmental awareness and sustainability that reduce waste.
Florschutz currently has work at Fieldwork Design. Upcoming shows include Field Trip!, first Thursday April 5th, At the Museum of Contemporary Craf and solo exhibits at Breeze Block Gallery in April, 2012 and Augen Gallery in August, 2012.
The sculptures of James Florschutz have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums as well as many universities and colleges throughout the United States, including OK Harris Works of Art, and Cynthia Reeves in New York City, and the Plattsburgh State Art Museum Sculpture Park in Plattsburgh, New York.
In addition, his work is in many private and corporate collections including Duke Energy, Charlotte, NC, Meditech Corporation and Norwood, MA.
Mr. Florschutz has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including this RACC grant funded installation. Also, he is a juried artist for the Oregon Public Art Roster.
